Rubber Design USA is the overseas branch of Rubber Design B.V., a leading supplier of advanced vibration control, propulsion, and exhaust systems for the maritime industry. Located in Florida, our U.S. office supports projects throughout North America and beyond, working on cutting-edge superyacht and commercial marine applications.

We are currently looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the installation, alignment, and commissioning of high-end propulsion systems on some of the world’s most advanced vessels.

About the Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you are the technical representative and primary point of contact for Rubber Design on each project you are assigned to. On-site, you will interact with project managers, fellow engineers, yard personnel, and yacht crews, ensuring a smooth and professional execution of all work.

Key responsibilities

  • Disassembly, reassembly, and installation of complete propeller shaft systems on new and existing superyachts.
  • Precision alignment and completion of the full propulsion system.
  • Execution of 5-year, 10-year, or other scheduled surveys at locations worldwide.
  • Performing refits and repairs based on drawings and specifications.
  • Commissioning of newly delivered installations.
  • Supervising inspections conducted by classification societies.
  • Participating in and overseeing sea trials.

Expectations:

  • You are able to make independent decisions about complex issues that arise during installation and alignment work and ensure that all necessary equipment is available (such as tools and alignment lasers). You also provide suggestions and points for improvement;
  • You have knowledge of and experience with working with laser equipment and/or conventional measuring instruments for alignment;
  • You have an active work attitude and organizational & technical insight;
  • Good command of the English language in speech and writing;
  • You are in possession of a driving license for motor vehicles.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in technical environments.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions on-site, especially during installation and alignment.
  • Familiarity with laser alignment tools and conventional measuring instruments.
  • Proactive and organized, with strong technical insight and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and the ability to write clear, accurate service and inspection reports.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, crew members, and internal teams.

Other Requirements

  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends when needed.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25–50%.
  • Valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Valid passport (must be maintained).
